Football Director's Corner
Registration: Every year we do at least 2 spring registrations. We have these
sign-ups
so early to give us time to build coaching staffs and order equipment to
outfit every child
in the program. The more complete the registration is early the
better prepared we are
for the season.
Equipment Fitting: This meeting is also very important for our preseason
preparation.
Making sure that every player is outfitted properly is a major
concern and something we
take very seriously here at SPW.
Off-season activates: SPW works tirelessly to keep the program fresh and
interesting
with activates and get-together’s that build comrade and program
unity. We’ll get these
dates and times to you as soon as possible.
Pre-Season Practice 2008: This season we’ll start practice on August 1st.
The first
6 hours (3 days) of practice will be helmets and cleats only. Afterward
all players are
expected to come to practice in full equipment unless directed
by the head coach not
too. The Head Coaches of the younger levels have the
option to practice either three
days a week or the full 5 like the older levels.
SPW
practices are held at Rec Park,
Monday –Friday 6-8 pm. All practice
times are
subject to change from the head coach.
The only reason we’ll cancel
practice is
SEVERE weather (Thunder and Lighting).
Otherwise we’ll brave the rain.
In-season Practice 2008: Once the school year starts all levels are allowed to
practice
6 hours a week. This equates to 3 nights a week, at the coaches discretion.
Other than
fewer hours a week the rules are the same for in-season practice as
pre-season practice.
Regular Season Games: The regular season starts just after Labor day, we
play a
Middlesex league schedule. The regular season consists of 8 games. 4
games home at
Rec park and 4 away. Game days start at 8:00am with the E-level
each game lasts an
1 ½ hours. Players are expected to arrive at least 45min prior
to game time. All family
and friends are welcome to the games.
