July 25, 2007

Dear Parents and Cheerleaders,

Welcome to the 2007 Pop Warner season. I am delighted to be the Cheer Director, and look forward to this season. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at anytime. If I don’t know the answer, I will get it for you.

Practices will start on Monday July 30, @ 5:45 pm. Please have children dress appropriately (shorts, t-shirt, sneakers), bring a water bottle, and apply bug spray at home. No Nail polish. Hair should be tied back, and absolutely

NO JEWLERY OR PIERCINGS.

If anyone did not make the uniform fitting, I will fit children that night. Please bring payment with you. $75.00 to complete the uniform.

You may also at this time, (if you have not already sent it to me) bring all required paperwork this night. “Please be aware that no child can take the field with out ALL required paperwork turned in”. I know this is sometimes tough, but these are national rules.

  • Original Birth certificate with raised seal.
  • Medical release form, signed, stamped, and dated by your Childs physician (Forms can be found on the website if needed).
  • Copy of year end report card

We are always in need of volunteers, if you have some time to donate, please se one of the staff. We at Pop Warner want to thank you for joining our team, and hope that your child has a great season.

Cheerleading is a big commitment. The children must be 7 years old by July 31, 2007 to participate. On August 1 the season starts. It last till the last week in October. (3 months). We have 8 games total, and they are played every Sunday starting in September. 4 home and 4 away. The farthest I think we have traveled for regular season is Waltham.

The teams practice m-th 6-8pm down at Rec park during the month of August. The younger girls practice 2-3 nights. The girls also go to competition, with the hopes of getting to Disney for national competition. (Younger girls, only exhibit once in October) If the girls keep advancing they will go to Disney the first week in December. After that they are done.

The cost is $135.00 per child, and another $70-80 to complete the uniform, which is provided by us. We have one mandatory fundraiser (usually candy) and we do other optional fundraisers. We also do a really nice year-end banquet, where every child gets a trophy, and special awards for scholastics, 100% attendance. We pride ourselves on being one of the only towns to give back to the kids so much. We do Spirit nights on Thursdays thru the month of August. I round up all the teams and they get to show each team what they have learned that week, and I award the spirit stick to the team with the most spirit.

I would love it if you would ask around to other parents and see how they feel about the program. I could use some feedback. This is an all-volunteer program, so we always need new people to help, with coaching, team parents, even concessions.

The girls have a great time with each other, make a lot of new friends, and learn what it like to count on each other to make it work. I am passionate about making sure the girls have fun, but learn at the same time.

I hope this can answer most of your questions. If you need more info, just ask.

Thanks,

Raymie
